Candida and yeast overgrowth is very common. Many people have an overgrowth of yeast and don't even know it. Some people have an overgrowth and are experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, mood issues, digestive issues, food sensitivities, recurring yeast infections or UTIs.
Some of the things that can contribute to candida overgrowth are:
Nutritional deficiencies Â
Poor diet Â
Antibiotics Â
Stress Â
High oxalate levels Â
High sulfur levels Â
Alcohol consumption Â
Pathogens Â
The important thing to know about candida is that everyone has it in their body. A healthy body will keep it under control and ensure that it doesn't overgrow. So, if you have candida overgrowth, there are reasons why it's overgrowing, and you probably have imbalances in your body.
It's important to run the right labs to see what your body needs, address the imbalances, and things like nutritional deficiencies and detox pathways before addressing the yeast itself. You may even run the labs and find out that your symptoms aren't even due to candida overgrowth. It's important to test to find out for sure, because a lot of the same symptoms overlap with other health issues. To learn about the labs you should run, read my blog post titled 6 Functional Labs That Get to the Root Causes.
Many people go straight to tackling the candida and start doing cleanses, detoxes, and candida diets, and end up doing more damage to their body. Often times the "die off" symptoms that occur when people start doing these things are actually mitochondrial damage and the body getting further out of balance. So, it's best to address what is causing the overgrowth first, so you don't do something that is going to be counterproductive or create more issues.
